The Perfect Make-Up Starter Kit

So when you're just getting into make-up, it can be a daunting experience, having no idea where to start and
not knowing what you actually need. So if you're a beginner, or maybe just lacking in the basics, read on!

Foundation

For foundation, every single one of us needs/prefers something different! First of all, find out what skin type you are; dry, oily, normal, combination? And how much coverage you need, if you still have that young baby skin, you probably don't need a heavy duty foundation. Luckily for you, I have combination skin so I've tried all sorts!

For dry/dull skin

You've most likely heard about this foundation, right? Rimmel Wake Me Up, is a wonderful and inexpensive foundation. Great for beginners, the coverage is definitely light/medium so it doesn't look cakey on your skin! The foundation has small particles of shimmer, and that's what adds radiance to your skin, making it look awake. This was one of the first foundations I ever tried and it set the bar pretty high! But since I do get an oily t-zone, it did begin to get shiny. So if you can't deal with the whole powder business, maybe this isn't the best for you.

For oily/combination skin

Sorry to you international people, pretty sure that No7 is a UK only brand. However, Beautifully Matte is a great full coverage foundation for oily skin.  As oily skin tends to be acne prone, this is completely full coverage and covers up any blemishes that you may have. It has a lovely consistency and goes on smoothly. Also, the ladies at the No7 counter at boots gladly use their fancy machines to match you to your perfect tone, and tend to give our free samples to take home and try out, to see if you like it. I do find that after a long period of time it can slip and slide and get a bit shiny, so you'd need powder on your t-zone if you've got a long day planned. I recently bought a new bottle of Beautifully Matte, and it was around £12, so I'm guessing the price hasn't changed.

Normal Skin

If you're fairly happy with your skin and don't really have any problems with it, but just need that extra boost then BB cream is the direction you should be going in. Now, there's sooo many BB/CC creams out there and people have different preferences, however the Maybelline Dream Fresh seems to be a winner with everyone. It feels light and fresh on your skin, blurring out any blemishes and/or redness on your skin, perfect for school!

 Eyes
Mascara is probably the best thing to start off with, it was definitely the first item of makeup I bought. It makes such a big difference, just generally opens up your face more and makes your eyes stand out. Maybelline mascaras are my absolutely favourite mascaras! They're inexpensive and just SO good. My favourites have to be The Rocket, Great Lash and The Falsies.
I do have loads of other ones that I absolutely love, like the benefit They're Real, even though I wasn't a fan at first, I'm beginning to get really into it.

The Naked Basics by Urban Decay is an absolute perfect starter palette, 5/6 of the shades are mattes, so they're perfect for a natural looking neutral eye. The dark brown colour, is actually really good for your brows too! It is higher end so on the pricier side, but you will not be disappointed, it's gorgeous!

Eye liner also makes a massive difference, I would say that you have to get the hang of eye liner, it definitely doesn't come naturally, practice makes perfect! This Eyeko liquid liner, looks just like a felt tip pen, it's easier to control than going straight into liquid/gel liners, save them for later:). I believe this goes for around £12.

Lips

Revlon Lip Butters.... They're hyped up enough already without me adding to it. They're everywhere on every blog, so if you haven't already heard about these, what cave have you been living in?? Anyway, they're a perfect border line in between a lipstick and a lip balm, the colour range is wonderful so you're guaranteed to find something that suits you, their inexpensive and so so moisturising!

Maybelline Baby Lips are so adorable and get the job done, it's in the name! The range is quickly expanding, and I want them all! They smell amazing, and some of them add a hint of sheer colour to your lips, they're extremely cheap too!

Face Powders

Blushes are not mandatory, but they're a nice thing to have to add some colour and dimention to your face. This rose gold one from sleek adds that perfect natural flush of colour to your cheeks! Sleek is also a UK based brand found at Superdrug, but there's plenty of other great ones! Maybelline does some lovely ones!

The last stage is to set it all with a good powder, to make sure your face is matte and in place all day long. Make sure you have an easy hand with it, don't pat it all on, your face will look cakey and powdery, just lightly dust it on your t-zone or all over your face. Not everybody needs powder, especially if you have dry skin, don't use powder! But if you find yourself getting shiny, this Rimmel Stay Matte should do the job, it lasts such a long time too, swear I've had mine for ages and I've hardly made a dint in it!

And we're finished, thanks for reading! Hope you found this useful in some way! Please request blog posts as I do run out of ideas, so your help is very valued! Leave comments, and links of your blogs so I can check them all out, Thank you! x

Lip Balms Lip Balms

Autumn is here, Winter is well within the horizon. In other words, chapped lips seasons. When the air begins to get cold and dry, our skin tends to go along with it. The skin on our lips does not naturally create it's own moisture layer leaving it susceptible to dryness and chapping, therefore it is really important to apply lip balm throughout the day, especially in Winter!! You need to make sure you have lip balm with you at all times, don't leave the house without it! Now, I know there are SO many different lip products on the shelves, and it can become overwhelming trying to pick a new one to try. I've tried my fair share of lip products and treatments, so I'm here, bringing my loved ones to you, hopefully it's helpful!

VASELINE, JESUS IN A TIN

Vaseline (otherwise known as Petroleum Jelly) is a very useful moisture insulator, it's also great for local skin conditions characterized by tissue dehydration. Vaseline helps protect minor cuts, scrapes and burns too! Vaseline helps dry skin, reduces of fine, dry lines and helps to protect skin from wind burn and chapping.  It contains no colours, fragrances or irritants, it's hypo allergic and looks so glossy on the lips, doubles up as a lip gloss!

Baby Lips- it's in the name!

If you haven't heard about these, where on earth have you been?? I'd be surprised if you don't already own one of these, or all of them. But if you don't, I suggest you go out and treat yo' self! They're super cute and cheap and get the job done! A couple of them even have SPF, you're probably wondering, 'SPF in the winter, really?', but yes you still need SPF. The winter sun can do some major damage. My favourite is definitely 'Cherry Me', it smells so good and gives a slight hint of colour too!

Nivea Lip Balms!

The Nivea lip balms have been around for a while, and the collection has become massive! There are so many of them now, and I'm not ashamed to say that I own the majority of them. There's ones that give you a pearly sheen of colour, fruit smelling ones, waterproof ones, the list is endless. Most of them also have SPF 10, which again is perfect for winter! Nivea is a great skin care brand, and the lip balms will definitely look after your lips. They're fairly cheap and you can literally find them anywhere! My favourites are the milk & honey and soft rose.

The Nivea Lip balms lock in the moisture in your lips, so they stay soft and pretty longer!

So that concludes my top 3! Hope you found out something new or interesting and enjoyed reading! Look out for new exciting Christmas posts coming up November/December, and if there's something you want to see on the blog, definitely leave comments, or tweet me for a quicker reply! Your suggestions mean everything, and I want to know what you guys enjoy reading about! Thanks for reading, have a lovely day/evening.
